South Carolina Mountain Best Planned Communities
Granted, the words South Carolina and mountains aren’t often associated with each other, and with good reason, as the highest peak in South Carolina is a shade over 3,000 feet.
But if your best place to relocate or retire is with at least a view of the mountains, then South Carolina foothills may be just the place for you.
Perhaps a better term than South Carolina mountain communities, would be South Carolina Upcountry Communities, as the locals are apt to refer to the highlands of the state.
Regardless of whether you agree that these are South Carolina mountain communities, these are great communities, in the upper elevations of South Carolina surrounded by forests, lakes, rolling hills, and in some cases, framed by mountain ranges in the background.
Many people dream of living in the mountains: cool evening sunsets over smokey peaks, the sounds of bird songs in the morning.
South Carolina’s mountain communities offer this, with a little bit of lowland charm thrown in for good measure.
Who could argue these are some of the best places to live in South Carolina.

Hi Jenn,
My starting point is meeting with the Superintendent of schools.
There are many resources in my "Ultimate Guide".
Anderson is included.
