DeBordieu Colony Community
If you want the golf course lifestyle, but aren’t thrilled with the idea of settling into a crowded area, you’ll want to visit the community of DeBordieu Colony.
The community is located outside of Georgetown and the quaint Pawleys Island, South Carolina is right up the road.
DeBordieu residents benefit from being located 45 miles from Charleston SC, and 40 miles from Myrtle Beach, SC.
Made up of 2,700 acres, the community of DeBordieu Colony is only 1,250 homes, with 700 acres of the community set aside as a nature preserve.
Add to this the Francis Marion National Forest laying south of the community, and you have a nature lover’s dream.
The golf course is 18-holes of Pete Dye’s design, with the 17th receiving the most praise. The course is also private, so plenty of times you’ll have it to yourself.
The clubhouse in the community is a 30,000 square foot, Georgian design, with two dining options, and a bar for enjoying a cold drink after your golf game.
DeBordieu Colony is great for families as there are yearly events such as oyster roasts, dinner dances, and hobby clubs.
There is an ocean side pool at the 10 acre beach club, tennis courts with a full-time instructor for lessons and clinics, and a boat landing and docks for fishing.
Your mind will also be set at ease with the controlled, manned security gate, and 24 hour roving patrols.
