Heritage Plantation Community
It seems fitting that in the land of Pawleys Island, South Carolina and its “arrogantly shabby” lifestyle, you’d find a community which really exemplifies the meaning of the word.
The planned community of Heritage Plantation shows us what a group of homes sharing the same land can be.
When doing the research on the community, and in any conversations with its residents, I was struck by their friendliness and love for their community.
Heritage Plantation has about 350 residences on its 1,000 acres, which means you’ll have plenty of room to stretch your legs.
It is about 7 miles to coastal Georgetown, SC, and 40 to Myrtle Beach International Airport, although you may not really want to leave home.
Social parties and outings are organized by the Club Committee, and recent events have included heading to Myrtle Beach to take in the Carolina Opry, and a Marina Oyster Roast.
Take a look at www.HeritagePlantation.com for updates and photos on the most recent happenings.
The website looks more like a community scrapbook, rather than a slick real estate site designed to sell.
The community has plenty to draw you there though, 8 tennis courts with men’s and women’s tennis clubs, an 18-hole golf course, designed by Larry Young with a practice area and driving range, a community marina and boat ramp, fishing in the Waccamaw River, an outdoor pool and an indoor spa, a fitness room, and two clubhouses, one of which is a 12,000 square foot Southern Colonial.
Considering the low cost of homes, the low homeowners fee, maybe the people are so cheery because they know they’ve gotten the good life at a bargain basement price.
