Daniel Island Community
Heading north along the coast, the next community is Daniel Island, outside of historic Charleston, South Carolina.
Like Brays Island, Daniel Island is a destination, as well as a community.
Daniel Island is located about 15 miles north of downtown Charleston, and only about 8 miles from the airport.
This proximity gives residents of the community great convenience in working and traveling.
Overall, Daniel Island is more like a small town, than a community. On the island there are businesses and a corporate park.
The island is 4,400 acres, and there are about 4,000 residences, with homesites, single family homes, town homes, and condos available.
The living style at Daniel Island, is noted for its tree lined streets, and small town feel.
Most of the lots are narrow, and most of the homes have deep front porches, perfect for enjoying a glass of lemonade on a warm, summer’s evening.
Daniel Island is possibly most known for the Family Circus Tennis Center, which has seating for 10,000 people, and serves as host for tennis events throughout the year.
Further sports based entertainment is found at the stadium of the Charleston Battery soccer team, which has seating for 5,100 people. Other amenities include two golf courses, one designed by Tom Fazio, and one designed by Rees Jones.
Living near the Tennis Center and these two great courses has its perks, as there are clinics and lessons throughout the year, as well as seasonal celebrations and community gatherings.
Water lovers can launch their boats from various docks, or fish, shrimp, and crab in the creeks, rivers, and marshes of the island.
Daniel Island has a private country club, with its own restaurant, pool, and state of the art fitness center.
If you’re interested in Daniel Island, you can visit, www.DanielIsland.com, or head down and tour the community yourself.
