Mystic Forest

Looking to really get away from it all? Head to the far western reaches of North Carolina’s mountains, and pick out a spot at the community of Mystic Forest.

Set in the middle of the Nantahala National Forest, about 80 miles west of Asheville, North Carolina and about 85 miles south of Knoxville, Tennessee, you’ll be living on the banks of the Nantahala River.

The community is part of three properties, all operating under the Mystic moniker. Mystic Forest consists of 120 acres and 42 homesites, ranging from a third of an acre to 3 acres.

Mystic Forest has 10 miles of trails which run along the river and eventually link to the Appalachian Trail, a small equestrian facility with 12 stalls and horses for resident’s use, there is a lake for fishing and paddle boats, and an outdoor pavilion with grills and tables for summer barbecues.

Although the community lacks some of the glitz of other properties, there is no way to describe the natural surroundings of the area.
