Santeetlah Lakeside Community

Traveling farther into the western North Carolina mountains, in the Nantahala National Forest, about a forty minutes from Bryson City, is Lake Santeetlah.

A small lake of only about 3,000 acres, there is a small beautiful community called, Santeetlah Lakeside. This community is one of my hidden gems, which you surely won’t hear of elsewhere.

The community is only 10 acres large, with 32 residences.

Many of the residents are snow birds, but that shouldn’t dissuade you from taking up a full time residence.

The town of Lake Santeetlah started as a resort community, but the residents eventually took control and incorporated into a town. The community is perfect for nature lovers.

All the homesites provide lake access, with each lakefront lot receiving its own private dock and lakeview lots receiving an assigned dock in the community’s marina.

The community has a lakeside clubhouse with a large covered deck, an outdoor fireplace, a game room, and canoe/kayak storage with a launching area.

If you’d like to explore the area on foot, there are hiking trails running from the mountains to the marina, and the 1,350,000 acre Natahala National Forest surrounds the community.
