Today we are visiting Asheville, North Carolina
Asheville has been included in the Top 20 Best Places to Retire; the Top 10 Great Adventure Towns; and the Top 15 Best Places to Re-invent Your Life.
And rightfully so…
Asheville has a population of approximately 73,000 people in Buncombe County in which Asheville is located, the population is about 230,000.
The climate is moderate, and there is definitely 4 seasons. Asheville is nestled between the Great Smoky Mountains and Blue Ridge Mountains in the North Western corner of North Carolina approximately 2 hours east of Knoxville, TN and 2 hours north of Charlotte, North Carolina.
The focal point of downtown Asheville is Pack Place. It is an education and Arts and Science Center located in the Pack Square Cultural District. People come to Pack Square to sit, relax; people watch, have lunch, meet a friend for coffee or go to one of the cultural events or any of the many Art, Music, Craft or science exhibits at Pack Place.
Pack Place also hosts many festivals throughout the year such as the famous Belle Chere Festival held each July Pack Place is truly a gathering place for everyone…. young and older alike.
Downtown Asheville is eclectic and exciting. There is always something going on. From the beautiful upscale shops carrying handcrafted items from local Artisans and all over the world to stores focused on Organic Natural Green products.
You’ll find restaurants offering a wide variety of foods fit for any size wallet. There’s very fancy to very laid back. Many offer beautiful, private outdoor seating where you can take your time and enjoy the day. Asheville has a very active music scene including live concerts, small clubs and musicians’ gathering on the streets.

Once there, you can take a step back in time and walk the streets of the Biltmore Village. Enjoy shopping at the many unique and charming shops as well as mainstream stores that make up the village and when you’ve worked up an appetite, grab a bite to eat a one of the many restaurants guaranteed to suit everyone’s taste.
