York South Carolina was once known as the “Charleston of the Upcountry,” and is now known as the “White Rose City”.
Downtown York, known as Yorkville, is filled with many historic homes which have been preserved.
The Yorkville Historical Society provides a booklet that details a self-guided walking tour covering almost 150 homes
One of the top events of the year in South Carolina, Summerfest, is held in York and attracts nearly 50,000 visitors to the town on the fourth weekend of August.
Downtown York SC is full of shopping options, and the rest of the county has plenty of attractions.
Paramount’s Carowinds theme park is located right at the North Carolina and South Carolina border and is a huge park full of rides and entertainment.
There are also several golf courses in York County to test your skill at.
When you get hungry, stop in at the Garden Café or the Cotton Gin for lunch or dinner.
York SC is located in one of the fastest growing areas of South Carolina, located just south of the North Carolina border and the Charlotte NC metropolitan area is about 50 minutes northeast of York.
Rock Hill SC is about 25 minutes east, Gaffney is about 45 minutes west, and Spartanburg SC is about an hour and ten minutes west. Columbia SC is about an hour and a half south.
York South Carolina has a population of about 7,233 people, and is the county seat of York County, which has a total population of approximately 164,614 people.The median housing cost in York is approximately $80,900.
