Lancaster, South Carolina
Lancaster South Carolina is an area that's rich in history. President Andrew Jackson, astronaut Charles Duke and actress Nina Mae McKinney all hail from Lancaster, and the town's origins date back to the late 1700's.
Lancaster is a small town with a population of about 8,177 people located in Lancaster County South Carolina, which has a total population of 62,520 people.
Just south of the North Carolina border, Lancaster SC is located at the mid-point of the state's northern border. This gives Lancaster access to Columbia, SC which is an hour and fifteen minutes to the south and Charlotte, NC which is an hour to the north.
The sands of Myrtle Beach are three and a half hours east while the mountains of Western North Carolina are about three hours to the west.
Currently Lancaster SC has been growing at a steady rate, with the northern end of the county growing the fastest due to its proximity to Charlotte, NC.
Planned communities have been developed to fit a number of lifestyles. There is a senior adult community, condominium style housing, and a gated community on the shores of the 3,000 acre Fishing Creek Lake, south of town.
Lancaster South Carolina is a great place to move to, whether you're interested in raising a family or planning a retirement centered around small town life.
