Abbeville, South Carolina
Abbeville has a population of 5,840 people and is the county seat of Abbeville County South Carolina, which has a total population of 26,381 people.
Located in the northwest corner of South Carolina, Abbeville is about a half an hour away from the Georgia border.
There are a good number of roads that lead in and out of Abbeville. Route 72 runs east and west of town, while Route 20 runs to the northeast and Route 28 leads to the northwest and the south.
Abbeville is at a higher elevation than the coast, and as a result it benefits from a less humid climate than much of the rest of the state.
Other small towns close to Abbeville SC, include Greenwood SC which is about twenty minutes to the east, and Anderson SC which is about forty-five minutes north.
Abbeville has average access to several other large cities. Greenville SC is an hour and twenty minutes to the north, while Augusta GA is about an hour and a half to the south. Columbia, SC is about two hours to the east, while Atlanta GA is about three hours to the west.

The center of town is set up as a square, reminiscent of days when carriages were led through the street by horses and gas lamps were a new convenience.
