The town of Bennettsville South Carolina has a population of 9,425 people and is located in Marlboro County, which has a total population of 28,411 people.

Bennettsville is located in northeastern South Carolina, just south of the North Carolina border. Routes 9 and 38 bisect the area providing access to other parts of the state, while I-95 is a half hour drive away.

For a weekend get-away, Myrtle Beach, Atlantic Beach and Pawleys Island are about two hours away, as is Charlotte NC.  Fayetteville NC is about an hour and a half away. The mountains to the west are accessible in three or four hours time.

Spared the fire that ravaged much of the South, Bennettsville SC has a plethora of architectural gems that it has held onto as the years have passed, while growing towards the future.

Free of the traffic and congestion of larger towns, Bennettsville SC is a great place to retire or raise a family. Marlboro County is known as the, “land of farms,” and has historically had some of the most fertile land in the state, so fertile in fact that it is rumored it used to be sold by the pound rather than the acre. Some of the most lucrative crops grown in the area include cotton, soybeans and tobacco.

Today downtown Bennettsville is enjoying growth with public beautification projects underway and plans for new housing as well.

Retail stores are owned by local residents, ranging from gift shops and hardware stores to home- style restaurants, beauty salons and boutiques.
