Morganton, North Carolina Piedmont Best Place
Located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Morganton NC is a gateway town to the mountains in the west and the economic centers in the east.
Morganton has a population of 17,261 people and is the county seat of Burke County North Carolina, which has a total population of 89,657 people.
When you walk through the downtown, it's like you've entered another world.
I've never been to a place where music is transmitted so everyone in the downtown area is serenaded and for me it was "Up, Up and Away In My Beautiful Balloon."
It definitely made me feel as though I was in a much smaller town.
Natural beauty surrounds the area, providing a respite from city life and a great variety of outdoor recreational activities.
The city's downtown is filled with clothing stores, restaurants and antique stores although you still may want to take a ride to a larger city from time to time.
Pisgah National Forest's eastern borders are to the west as is Asheville NC just an hour to the west. An easy ride along I-40.
Morganton's location, minutes from I-40 and near some of North Carolina's top cities, gives it a great advantage of accessibility, while remaining a bit off the beaten path.
Seriously, now that's pretty convenient.
