Nicknamed the, “Southern Part of Heaven,” Chapel Hill North Carolina is located in the rolling hills of the Piedmont Plateau.
Home of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and part of the prestigious Research Triangle, along with Raleigh NC and Durham NC, Chapel Hill is one of the best places to live, work and play in the country, no matter what your age.
Chapel Hill NC provides more of a small town feel when compared to Raleigh and Durham. All three of the towns in the Research Triangle excel in science, the humanities, health technologies, and business ventures.
Chapel Hill, with a population of approximately 53,546 people, sits mostly in Orange County North Carolina, which has a total population of 129,083 people, and partly in Durham County.
Centrally located in the state near I-40 and I-85, Chapel Hill NC is within a half hour of Raleigh and Durham. It takes about two and a half hours to get to Charlotte North Carolina, and about two and a half to three hours to Wilmington NC and the coast.
The Northwestern Carolina Mountains are about four hours to the west.
