Residents of Apex North Carolina are able to cool off in the summer without heading to the beach however, as they live right on the outskirts of the Lake Jordan State Recreation Area.
Downtown Apex NC has recently undergone a major street scape renovation project to restore its historic character. Now, it's on the National Register of Historic Places as an authentic example of a turn-of-the-century railroad town.

Road access around Apex is excellent. Interstate 40 is about twenty minutes away, outside of Raleigh, while Interstate 85 is about a half an hour away, outside of Durham NC.
For local travel, Routes 64 and 1 provide access to the east and the west, while Route 55 intersects with Routes 401 and 421 which run northeast to southwest and northwest to southeast respectively.
Chapel Hill NC is only forty minutes away and the North Carolina beaches of Wilmington NC are about two and a half hours away.
A gem in the crown of Wake County North Carolina, which has a total population of 695,681 people, Apex offers small-town living with a population of only about 25,000 people.
