With 5.0% job growth in 2012, and a 2.2% projected annual job growth rate, and only a 7.8% unemployment rate, Spartanburg likely won’t make it to the top of the list for this factor any time soon, but results look promising.

As job growth continues to increase, the unemployment rate will fall gradually.

Spartanburg is home to J M Smith Corporation headquarters, first founded in 1944. The company is in the health care equipment and services industry, where it produces about $2.48 billion in revenue as of November 2012.
