It's been a long journey and we've seen a lot of amazing small towns/cities within minutes of Raleigh, Durham or Chapel Hill North Carolina.
We've been to…
In 1998, today's best place to live in North Carolina was listed on the National Register of Historic Places due to its unique heritage and historic qualities.
Wendell, NC population 5,845 is another wonderful sleepy little country town that has started to take off due to its proximity to rapidly expanding Raleigh.
Like many of the other small towns and cities we’ve looked at around the Research Triangle, Wendell has done a lot of work to manage their somewhat rapid growth and provide the kinds of services and amenities that make for a high quality of living.
Walk around downtown Wendell and you can see evidence of growth for yourself from the well preserved historic district and comfortable mix of old and new.
There are parks and green spaces and various other public services and amenities that clearly tell visitors the people here are all about community and small town values.
Downtown Wendel, NC also has a wide variety of businesses ranging from restaurants and retail to light manufacturing and service-based businesses.
Like a lot of places in Piedmont North Carolina, there is a dynamite farmers market on the weekend and plenty to do outdoors whether it be hitting the links on one of the areas many golf courses or taking advantage of all the things going on at the community center downtown.
Wendell has a reputation for being safe, quiet and on the move and considering the median home value in town is around $100,000 I think its safe to say it’s inexpensive too!
The residents of Wendell, North Carolina truly value quality of life and have taken great strides over the years to protect the integrity of their hidden gem.
