Well, it's not classified where I find this information.
What I do is spend hours and hours hunting and searching in every little nook and cranny to find the best information for you.
It's important You find your best place to live in North Carolina or South Carolina.
I sort it, organize it, sift through piles of stuff every week, and only then do I present it to you in a form that's way easier to read, make use of, and understand!
You may notice that very often in The Carolina Report (this weekly blog) I’ll provide links not only to useful pages on our own website, but also to websites outside of Places of Value that I think might help you with the topic at hand all to provide you with information so that you can make the most informed decision on…
Your best place to live in North Carolina or South Carolina.
So, I've put together for you our Relocation and Retirement Guide To The Best Places In The Carolinas, seven pages of topics with lists of recommended websites and other resources to help you find more information on everything from designing that new retirement home to what you need to do come moving day.
I thought today I might go through our Relocation and Retirement Guide To The Best Places In The Carolinas and picked out some of the resources I find most useful on the topic of relocating or retiring to North Carolina or South Carolina.
Whether you're thinking of retiring or relocating to North Carolina or South Carolina, these resources are a good place to start.
I enjoy reading Where to Retire magazine for information about places people are moving to and there are a few good publishers who put out a lot of titles on retirement, finances and real estate that you might want to check on like Rodale Books (www.rodale.com), Wiley (www.wiley.com) and Taunton Publishing (www.taunton.com).
Speaking of finances, Bankrate.com (www.bankrate.com) is an indispensable website for advice on investing, taxes and anything to do with money and if you’re not sure about what your taxes will look like when you move please look at the North Carolina (www.dor.state.nc.us) or South Carolina (www.sctax.org) Department or Revenue websites.
Frankly some of the best general information about North Carolina and South Carolina can be found through state sponsored tourism websites like www.visitnc.com or www.discoversouthcarolina.com and the South Carolina Information Highway (www.sciway.net) is one of my favorite sites to find just about anything about South Carolina.
Some of you obviously have more specific information needs like where to find a job or schools for your kids or maybe your doing some homework about your potential best place and are worried about things like crime.
For any one of these there are a lot of local, state and federal agencies with good statistical information that will definitely help.
For instance, when I write about finding a job in North Carolina and want to know more about growing industries and so forth I might consult everything from the Bureau of Labor Statistic (www.bls.gov) to the Employment Security Commission of North Carolina (www.ncesc.com) down to the local chamber of commerce website.
State and local sites are also great for information about schools systems but let me also put a plug in for www.greatschools.net and www.schoolmatch.com if you’re looking for some independent evaluation.
Likewise if you’re looking for a new doctor, check out www.healthgrades.com, one of the leading independent healthcare rating organizations in the county.
Man, I could go on and on but it’s all right there and more in our Relocation and Retirement Guide To The Best Places In The Carolinas.
If you have your own favorite resources for relocating or retiring to the Carolinas, I’d love to hear about them so we could share them with everyone here at the Places of Value community.
See you next week!
