My Prediction For North Carolina And South Carolina Retirement Places
Here is my prediction for the best places to live in North Carolina and South Carolina for retirement or relocation.
As I've always told you, my list doesn't substitute for actually visiting these places, "kicking the tires " yourself, hiring the right professionals, and doing your own due diligence homework.
Here's the trend I see that will give you great insight into what places will be in big demand as this wave of Boomers make their way south to retire and relocate in North Carolina and South Carolina.
The world is becoming a place where more and more of us are spending more and more time in front of a computer screen…at home and at work.
On line "social networks" are thriving which means again we have less face to face real human contact!
Today, "customer service" means prompting your way through a long series of telephone commands rarely being able to speak to a real live person, or ever get someone to call you back, and taking 15-20 frustrating minutes to do it!
People are getting tired of high tech and are yearning for some good old fashion high touch.
And that's why Small Towns with a central walkable downtown core, a quaint Main Street USA, public transportation, and friendly real people with a strong sense of community are becoming more and more popular.
And if they have a College in the area, even the better.
So, as far as I'm concerned, Small College Towns will be in big demand for the future. With gas prices being as expensive as they are, and people yearning for that feeling of community and personal contact, Small Town living is a perfect fit.
If you're a Boomer who will have to work (as many will, especially in this economy) or will want to work into retirement, having a college in the town is a mixed blessing. On one hand it provides a stimulating environment, but it also provides competition from college students for those sought after part time jobs you might need.
Some of my favorite Small Towns in North Carolina are Cashiers, Brevard, Black Mountain, New Bern, Boone, and Edenton/Elizabeth City.
And in South Carolina they are Anderson, Aiken, Newberry/Greenwood, Summerville, and Beaufort.
