Charlotte, North Carolina…A Great Place To Relocate and Retire
So, where are the Top Cities for a Fresh Start?
Some of the best places to live, retire and relocate to.
Well, Relocation.com published a list of the top 20, and one of my favorites was on it…Charlotte, North Carolina, along with Raleigh.
I've recommended Charlotte as one of the best places to live in North Carolina for many years now. And this economy hasn't changed my mind.
Relocation.com had 4 criteria to rank the cities as best places to relocate or retire to. They were housing affordability, economic growth, popularity, and volunteerism.
I really like the criteria of "volunteerism" because a major indicator of strong community spirit is how active people are in helping others in their community.
Let's face it…it's not easy relocating or retiring to a new place where you don't know anyone, and it's a lot easier if you find friendly, helpful people there!
Well, back to Charlotte.
Charlotte's workforce has grown 50% over the last decade! Like Raleigh, it's a magnet for young, educated workers in their early 30's, as well as boomers looking to relocate to a more affordable area with a great lifestyle, and encouraging business climate.
Raleigh is known for its technology based workers and Charlotte as a financial center. But these two well-known cities, as well as several others in the Carolinas, are now diversifying and offering greater business opportunities for people looking to relocate or retire to places in both North Carolina and South Carolina.
The local Charlotte Observer newspaper said, "The forces behind Charlotte's growth are not exactly secret and complex; land and houses are affordable, the weather is nice, jobs are plentiful."
