My family and I are looking to possibly move to NC. We currently live in the upper midwest with long, cold winters, warm, humid summers. We want to move somewhere that has moderate temperatures all year, humidity is not a problem. We have thought about Wilmington but the more we read into it the more bad things we hear about it. Is Wilmington really that bad? What is a good city that is close to the ocean and has around 100,000 people?

Sabrina,

Go back to my blog, The Carolina Report, and read all the posts we did this summer on Small Towns.

Get a copy of my "Ultimate Guide" and give me a call to further discuss things you will need in a new place,
like a job, and then we can pinpoint specific Towns that would be Best for You!

Hi Taneah,

Unless you describe the Katy area of Texas, I don't know
what areas of the Carolinas would be similar for you.

Why do you want to leave that area?

My mother and I have been talking about moving to North Carolina lately. We currently live in Pennsylvania and we're both just tired of the long, cold winters. NC seems like the best bet. We're not big on huge cities, but the idea of living in a tiny town with nothing around isn't appealing either. So something in between would be nice.... A nice neighborhood, where you can take a 30-45 minute drive to bars, clubs, malls, restaraunts, etc. We also wouldn't want to live too close to the coast... Maybe about a 2 - 3 hour drive from the beach. If anyone has any recommendations for an area like that, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks,
Julie

Hi Ashley,

I love the areas outside Charlotte because you can get the land
you want, and still be close enough to take advantage of the City for jobs, nightlife, etc.

The areas near Lake Norman are really nice...just north of Charlotte.
Places like Cornelius, Huntersville, Mooresville, Kannapolis, and Salisbury.

I am looking to move to NC from NJ. I have been to Charlotte, but have heard great things about Raleigh and Wilmington as well. Now I view these areas (charlotte and raleigh) as city areas, and were looking for land. We would like to be able to have some acerage for our horses and dogs. My husband is in building supply and I am in the medical field as an office manager. We would, most likely need to be near a city due to our jobs, but we are looking for a low-key town, or suburb of a city. Any Ideas/ suggestions???

Thank you,
Ashley

Hi Chris,

I feel Summerville is a great way to live in an area that is way more affordable
than Charleston, but still take advantage of all that Charlesto and the beach areas have
to offer!

Get a copy of my Special Report on that area.
Go to: http://placesofvalue.com/carolina-best-places-to-live-special-reports.
